Even I couldn't figure it out. That, and the potholes on MacLaren west of Bank which have also been recently patched over, is the reason why I took my famous south-by-southwest route: http://spacing.ca/ottawa/2011/09/13/centretowners-sxsw-bicycle-shortcut/Centretownerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03798054152996264061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014451593167123858.post-15547125533901171382013-09-19T12:54:42.213-04:002013-09-19T12:54:42.213-04:00This is great. I guess because it is not "common knowledge", I never even noticed these things on the road, or if I did, probably thought they were not signifying anything. The second one I might just scream "SOOOOORRY FOR STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT!" at them. Or ignoring them, or a disapproving glance back to let them know I'm not fazed by their honking. Some people will stop, turn around, and wave. (There is a small percentage of the time when they're honking at you because your kickstand is down or a strap dangling from your bag is dangerously close to your spokes)

In lieu of writing up my own directions on how to file a traffic complaint, see here: http://ottawapolice.ca/en/ServingOttawa/SectionsAndUnits/Traffic/complaints/index.aspx

Sometimes the only thing you can get on a vehicle (and remember long enough to write down) is the number plate; it's not necessary to have ALL the information listed there but as much as you can helps them narrow it down.

Remember to write down the plate number as soon as you can, as it will slip your mind as soon as you dial the police's phone number.

It can take a few incidents before you get in the habit of capturing all the relevant information before the driver speeds off. I practice by reading the number plates of passing cars and trying to think of mnemonics to remember them.Centretownerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03798054152996264061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014451593167123858.post-42707096928598643642013-08-14T11:29:44.975-04:002013-08-14T11:29:44.975-04:00Thanks for this info! I have a question though that I was hoping someone could help me with.

A few weeks ago while stopped at a light, and waiting pretty much right on these dots, I was honked at by a driver wanting me to get out of her way so she could turn right. (I was at the corner of Merivale and Laperriere in the west end). When I didn't move, she proceeded to try and move me herself by pushing forward with her car. We got into an argument and eventually the light changed.

I was also honked at this morning at another intersection (Kirkwood and Laperriere) for the same reason, albeit nobody tried pushing me into traffic this time. Again, I was on those yellow dots!!

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to deal with this problem? (I mean, besides giving drivers the finger).

Thanks Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014451593167123858.post-16710139051672165302013-08-13T19:07:32.134-04:002013-08-13T19:07:32.134-04:00I'm honestly surprised that no one seems to kn...I'm honestly surprised that no one seems to know about these...
